Dispelling the misconceptions of some segments of the society that male students will present the headscarf to female students, he said that headscarves will be disbursed by University administration. He said that university did not compel anyone to wear headscarves or celebrate Sisters' Day. It is their choice whatever they like.
The University is marking February 14 as Sisters Day and arrangements were being made in this regard. He reiterated that in our culture, women are more empowered and earn their due respect as sisters, mothers, daughters and wives."
Gujratinder Singh Randhawa said that India and Pakistan had been enjoying common culture in which women are given due respects. He said that the Punjab was enriched in its culture and saints' poets. He said that opening up of Kartarpur corridor was a hallmark step that will facilitate Sikh pilgrims. He lauded the steps on the part of present Pakistani govt.
